Need some new tunes- what are YOU listening to??
#1
Time to update my CD collection (nope, not an iTunes girl) and am looking for something new. I am hopelessly out of touch!

I like bluesy/folksy stuff, some pop, very very very little country, no heavy metal. In current rotation in my car and at home: Etta James, Grateful Dead, Lyle Lovett, Guster, the Subdudes, Robert Cray, Peter Gabriel, Lenny Kravitz, Los Lobos, Phish, Sarah McLachlan, Van Morrison, Indigo Girls, Poi Dog Pondering, Beatles, Paul Simon

Any suggestions?

I noticed that you didn't mention Eric Clapton. Don't leave him out - his stuff is wonderful.

Just go to iTunes and download the free podcasts from NPR: All Songs Considered, and NPR music. You don't have to be an iTunes girl to enjoy these free 30 minutes segments of music from artists that you haven't heard of before. It's great stuff, and while I don't like every one of the artists, I like 95% of them. Great bargain! AND, you can burn a couple of the programs to a CD and listen to them without owning an iPod.

Great ideas so far! Keep 'em coming.

Thanks for the tip iaJim. I am a little late to the podcast game- I just discovered the Lost podcasts. I will definitely check out the stuff from NPR.

Linda2- Yep, Clapton IS great and he has a spot in my collection. Smile

And how about Various Artists singing Richard Thompson?

Looks like you have to buy it from an Amazon Marketplace Seller, but it's so worth having.
