The blogs are reporting that iOS 5 GM will be distributed to iPhone assemblers during the last week of September for a planned mid-October launch of the iPhone 5 (or 4S or whatever).
I've got several friends/family members who are basically in holding pattern until the new iPhone is announced before pulling the trigger on it or sticking with whatever they have right now (I'm included in this group as well).

My dad is planning to get an iPhone 5, and that may mean that I'll get his iPhone 3GS, and that may mean that my daughter gets my iPhone 1 (which was my dad's prior to him getting an iPhone 3G, which he then gave to his wife when he got a 3GS).
Confusing, huh?

While my 2 1/2 year old iPhone 3GS is still performing rock solid, I may be compelled to upgrade to the fiver. It just seems to be the right thing to do. Besides, someone needs to kickstart AAPL. :biggrin:
