Need new color laser printer. Suggestions?
#1
My office is looking for a new color laser printer, and I'm looking for suggestions.

Last time I bought one was about 11 years ago— Xerox 6250N Phaser, which has been just amazing—but the thing is finally needing replacing.

We don't need speed (8 ppm would be fine), or even photo-realistic color. Just a good work horse with a fair cost-per-page.

Would love to keep the budget below $600.

This Xerox is still working well, but it's large and always been a little noisy. Unfortunately, they only command about $100 on CraigsList.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Will you be using it to proof B&W magazine ads?

No, mainly to make posters and flyers, letters.

I have a Brother color laserprinter for home office use - it's been almost perfect (there are some software glitches that may be machine-specific).

The printouts look better using generic laser toner than our 3 year-old Xerox Phaser here at work.

I love my Oki c530dn -- phenomenal performer; amazing color, quick, duplexing, and Mac-friendly. It's a little on the pricey side, though, on cost-per-page.

I've had an electronic birdie recommend the Samsung CLP-620ND to me on more than one occasion. If this Oki disappoints me, it's next on the list.

After all the trouble I've had with Brother in the last year (which I think is more their toner supplier; cartridges would keep puking inside the printer), I've sworn them off. And I'm likely never to give HP another try.

Excellent, Zoidberg, that Samsung looks like a good bet. Checking it out now...
