New Boy Genius Rumor: There IS an iPhone 5 and only Sprint will have it

Looks like Sprint bet the farm on the iPhone but possibly got Apple to give them exclusive rights for the iPhone 5 (at least in the short term).

We'll see tomorrow.

Reading some of the comments from the link, it seems Sprint is ditching Wimax, so this rumor seems less plausible.

I don't see Apple getting stuck into another AT&T deal again. DOUBT.

I'm rooting for the underdog—Sprint—on this one; I hope they have worked out an exclusive. Regarding WiMax, that part of the speculation seems a little iffy, although I've always thought it made sense for Apple to buy Clear and own their own network.

Sounds like it's exclusive only to or through 1st quarter 2012. Nice way to handle a production shortfall, if true.

Well, that would be unfortunate. I only have two carriers available in my area, ATT and Sprint are not the two.

Seems unlikely, but so did only giving it to AT&T when it was first introduced, so who knows.

Sprint is the ONLY carrier with decent 4G network coverage in the US.

(Tmobile is exempt because its 4G is not LTE, and they are presumably going to be merged with AT&T).

I can see Apple telling AT&T and Verizon - when you get your 4G network up to XX% of the US coverage, you can get the iPhone 5.

Could all be BS, tho. too!

I kind of hope it isn't true. But it might be.

AT&T might not mind it, either - the original iPhone 4s are all within their 24 month contracts.
