We got word yesterday that a co-worker died unexpectedly. I wasn't very close to them, but their unexpected death marked me more than I thought it would. Last night I woke up countless times thinking about them. I am not even sure if I ever slept more than 30 minutes, I looked at a clock several times and each time only 10-20 minutes passes since last time I looked. I knew I was gonna have a very busy day at work today, so I made an effort to sleep, but I don't think I had a sleep episode longer than 30 minutes last night. This fragmented sleep is much worse than staying up all night. If I were to stay up all night, now I would feel tired but no headache. Instead, I got a headache.

We deal with grief on our own terms.
There can be many reasons why the loss hit you hard.
Was he close to your age?
Was the loss coupled with other stress? work related or family?
Don't have any quick solutions.
Hope you get some rest tonight.
