Still itching for a week in Europe. Looking at flights to Warsaw and thought it would be fun to have a 20+ hour overnight layover in a city I've never been to . . .
Looks like the choices are Istanbul or Zurich. What would you pick and why?

having been in Zurich but not in Istanbul, I would choose the later myself.

Thanks, s/t.
European travel is so expensive, and vacation time so precious, that I struggle with the "place I've been before and would like to return to" vs. "place I've never been" question.

I hung out for a night in Istanbul a long time ago and it was pretty interesting. No streetlights in some places so you're in danger of falling into a massive hole where the sidewalk should be, pack of wild dogs, and stuff thrown out of the window on to you (pretty sure by accident). Of course you balance that with friendly fishermen offering to share their dinners with you and the bright lights of the markets.
Never been to Zurich.

Based on your posting title, I would recommend Zurich. Lower probability of catching something.

Istanbul is popular for its beaches, clubs, party-spots, pistachios, booze, tea and textiles. They have a nice tour of the old Ottoman palace.
Zurich is popular for its desserts and architecture. They have a nice opera house.
Only there for 24 hours...?
Hmm...
Between the Turkish delight and the chocolate... damn! That's tough!!
