Ok, I'm surprised no one has started a thread about the show yesterday, so I'll get it rolling.
Like or disliked?
I thought it was pretty damn good! Shane finally gets his just desserts, and it's a double tap! Father and son, no less. ( I know, not a real double tap, but hey, it sounded good) What a way to go! Rick tricks Shane into thinking he's giving him his gun, then stabs him in the heart!! Carl even gets into the act with his first zombie kill. All done under a fantastic foggy, full moon night. I'm glad Shane is off the show, but man, they go through their main characters fast! A regular cast member "gets it" virtually each week now.
And while I'm at it, is Rick a cat, or what? Seems like he has nine lives with all the close calls he's had. Always comes out on top, though.
I also found it a bit unbelievable that they would give Carl, a boy of what, 8-10 years old an automatic pistol to carry around. I guess they needed that to complete the final scene, but it kind of seemed far fetched to me.
Really liking this show and I'm sorry that the season finale is next week. Will have to wait for Fall to get my next Walking Dead fix.

the past few episodes have finally been picking up steam. i just about wrote the show off after a (IMHO) slow-moving first few episodes. it felt like 'the whining dead'.
and what is carl doing walking around the woods/fields by himself - same thing with dale - and at night!
i'm now intrigued about how the virus is currently being spread since bites/scratches don't seem to factor.

I must have watched a different show. That whole deal with Shane plotting to kill Rick was just not credible in the least. Nothing about it.
Still, I obediently shut my brain off and found the show reasonably enjoyable, if for no other reason than to admire the efforts of decent acting, directing, and production working so hard to salvage a bad script.

Yeah, good, good stuff. And they're saying next week will be a just as much of a kick in the pants.
The Shane Rick showdown has been trying to boil over for awhile now. I still think the scene where Rick laid down the law to Shane after their punch up was Rick setting up the same scene we saw last night. When he gave Shane back his gun and turned his back on him, I think he was just waiting for Shane to go for it and was ready to turn and put one between Shane's eyes.
I think people tend to peg Rick as weak, but I suspect it's more a matter of him keeping himself in check than a reluctance to bring the smack down. It's quite obvious to me that when Rick decides he's going to bring the hammer down, he can bring a whole world of hurt.
Carl is actually 12 according to the wiki. Given the zombie apocalypse, life or death, they have to grow up fast now thing going on, I can see them giving him a gun. Granted, a revolver that's not going to possibly jam would probably make more sense, but that's more nerdy detail spotting than something the average viewer is going to give two seconds thought.

I think the bit after Rick stabbed Shane was a dream - just not sure who's.
Rick killed Shane and then the screen went black (I thought the show was over or a commercial). Then there was some scary rabid animal/zombie/gory flashes then carl shows up and all of a sudden Shane is zombified. I don't think people have turned that fast before, plus he wasn't bitten/scratched by zombie, so how can he be one? Wouldn't the prisoner have come back, too?
I do think Shane is dead, I just think what happened after is a dream sequence.

The prisoner (Randall?) did turn into a zombie, no?

I don't think so. They've been hinting that there's more to the zombification process than just being bit or scratched.

The prisoner did come back as undead, and was (re)killed in the woods at the time of the Rick/Shane conflict. They were examing him and found no bites.

Shane killed the prisoner by breaking his neck. I don't recall Randall being a zombie. I don't think he reanimated. I also don't think you autmatically become a zombie just because you die. I still think you have to be infected.
There may be more to the infection process than a bite or scratch, but the the amount of time to go from dead to undead has been much more than a few minutes in the cases that I recall.

Recall it or not, Randall has been zombied...
And courtesy of Glen unzombied.
As for the rest, the who, the how, the why, tune into to the finale. Robert Kirkman, creator of all this mayhem, has said much will be revealed.
A recap and a short interview with Kirman that straddles the line between teaser and spoiler. You have been warned.
