I am not one to follow politics very closely but I do like to know the basics. As we march through this election year what will be the major events to note? For instance, what is the event that will determine who the republican candidate for president will be? Probably some minor events leading up to that?

So Romney is way out ahead right now but many states won't decide until may or even june. Can Santorum catch up or is it a forgone conclusion that Romney will be the one?

I think the schedule can be summed up as "Fact-free inanities uttered nonstop over the airwaves by crazy people until one crazy person rises above them all and is anointed head crazy person sacrificial lamb republican presidential nominee on august 30th.
