Uh, oh...
Keep in mind that the LAST major eruption of Santorini (aka Thera) caused the extinction of the Minoan civilization, and created a "Mediterranean dark age".

Wife was there last year and was thoroughly impressed with the caldera that you enter to get into the harbor. Definitely a place to go see - before it goes away Wink

If you look at a map of the island, you can see that the whole ISLAND was the caldera at one time... but that was a LONG time ago :-)

Well, the resultant tsunami will certainly make that sunken cruise ship easier to repair.. once it's sitting on top of the island.

Great book! I read it back to back with Clarke's "Hammer of God" Preferred Niven's better.

Oia, on the north end of the island, is one of the most beautiful places on Earth... but I guess I wouldn't want to be staying in one of the cave hotels in the caldera when an earthquake hits. Yikes.
