This is SPAM, right? Craigslist
#1
Am selling my Yamaha Rhino on Craigslist and got this from a guy who first asked me a bunch of questions and then this email. It's phony baloney, right?

thanks...

Due to my job and tight schedule.
i wont be able to come down for the pickup instead i'll have a
Transportation company come down for the pickup.

Note that i'll be responsible for shipping and handling.
I have decided to use the program called "Auction Protection" offered by
PayPal Inc. I only want a legit transaction! Giving the nature of this
transaction, please note that PayPal will protect us and monitor this
transaction.

If you are not aware of how they work, let me explain to you.
they will give both of us proper protection. After payment is
confirmed to you by PayPal, you'll receive terms and conditions that
will protect both of us.
Inspections will be done by the moving company as soon as payment is verified.

If you wish to proceed selling this to me, please provide the following to me,

1. Your full name
2. Address (street,city,zip,state),
3. Phone number
4. your PayPal email address

so I can initiate the deal through PayPal right away also so i can
forward it to the shipping company to calculate the cost of pick up
for me. i can only pay through PayPal.

kindly get back to me with your paypal email address for payment as
soon as possible and
if you don't have an account with PayPal yet, it is very easy to
set-up, go to http://www.paypal.com and get it set up.

Thanks and in anticipation of your response

Best Regards

It sounded fake at first, but then I realized what you are selling... which makes it plausible.

I believe that Craigslist has up on the page "AVOID OFFERS TO SHIP"

http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams

"DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts. "

I'm voting scam as well. He's working very hard to instill confidence in blind shipping and payment.

Sell local, do the transaction in a police parking lot.

Yes, it's DEFINITELY a scam. The final nail in the coffin is the offer to use "Auction Protection"...PayPal does not have such a service.

SCAM!!! This the voice of experience. I just went through that very same routine (elec wheelchair like Amigo) with "Angela", who is disabled, and lives in Co. Angela wanted my address and Paypal account and her shipping agent would calculate the cost to ship to her. MY CL as clearly stated in all cpas: CASH ONLY. LOCAL PICkUP ONLY.

I responded asking for the name of her agent to give my address. She gave me the name of a company that is out of business - online website is for sale.

I told her to arrange cash and local pickup or don't bother contacting me again. Haven't heard from "Angela" since.

This is one way to PROVE that it is a scam: Take a sentence in there - I took, "If you wish to proceed selling this to me, please provide the following to me" and run it through google (with quotes) and see if any one else had posted the same question that you just did.

the answer is yes...

Simple Craigslist warning.

I have gotten the same on my Honda 750 MC. And a car.
