This is the "Bag of Hurt" that HDMI DRM is.

It has to make sure it is a licensed device.

If you use Component RCA Red-Green-Blue, no problems with delay I think.

Is the TiVo set to use multiple output formats/auto-detect (i.e. 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, depending on content)?

If it is, try using only one (i.e. 720p if you have a 720p set or 1080i if you have a 1080p set) and letting the TiVo handle the conversion.

Note that 1080p is only for pass-through of online content (i.e. Netflix), but keeping 1080i and 1080p checked may still cause the signal to drop out when switching channels, which may be causing the loss of HDMI connectivity.

I keep my TiVo set to 1080i all the time. When I had it set for multiple formats, it would take a couple seconds when switching channels to sort out the new output format. I didn't lose HDMI connectivity, but I could see that happening, depending on the receiver and/or TV.

I don't have any delay issues when switching channels on my HD TiVo, connected through my Yamaha receiver to my Samsung HDTV. The only delays encountered are when initially turning on the receiver and TV, when the components talk to each other and go through the "Hand Shaking" process.

:agree: - This.

There are many receivers out there (Comcast/Infinity, etc.) that this also occurs with this issue with HDMI and resolution switching. Some Television sets are also susceptible to this (e.g. some Sharp models, to name one brand).

And with each delay, I want you to envision the MPAA executives that arranged this obscenity happily rubbing their hands with glee while squealing "We Win. We Win. Hurray !"
