Affordable accommodations in the the SF bay area?
#1
Anyone have any recommendations on an affordable place to stay in northern SF or the north bay?

I'm headed to a concert at The Greek Theater on Saturday night, driving down that day and picking up a friend in SF (which means I'll have to drive her back to SF that night). I'd prefer to be in north SF or even on the north bay as I plan to head to explore the marin headlands and beaches on Sunday. I've stayed in Sausalito (on an ex-girlfriend's dime, thankfully, YIKES!) but that's it for the north bay. Anyone have any recommendations to check out?

I should note, I'm flying solo (other than my friend joining me for the show) and hostels, campgrounds and the like are TOTALLY options I'll consider.

Thanks for any insight!

As far as camping, there's free campgrounds in the headlands, you might get lucky and there could be a site open.

Otherwise, AirBnb. After all, you probably don't want to stay in Oakland.

There are many fine hotels in the city of Oakland. You share my birthday, I expect more from you.

Tahoe, if you're on a "severe" budget you should consider some the motels on University in Berkeley. Parents stay there. I've stayed at the Golden Bear on San Pablo (near University). Not the greatest, not the worst. Nice Sushi restaurant. Emeryville is squished between Berkeley and Oakland, but their hotels are kinda pricey, depending on what you consider pricey. Just priceline Berkeley.

My parents spent two months in the Golden Bear when they first moved to Berkeley. That was before us kids were born. It has been there a loooooong time. Smile

Vision, it was a bit of a joke...Though, I don't wind up spending much time in Oakland.

You could also look a bit further north around Santa Rosa. Very pretty up there, and places in the $50-$60 that looked alright.
