Dead JVC compact component system

It's got to be 10 years old anyway-it has cassette decks! It's been my sound system in my basement until my iMac with Creature 2's sounded better. I would still use it for the radio because one station I listen to over the interwebs will cut out now and then but that's another story.
Anyway, we had a power outage a few weeks ago and since the power came back on the JVC hasn't. It had a constant red light on (standby mode) but no more light and nothing happens when I hit the power button. I tried it in another outlet but nada. So something must have blown and there seems to be no reset switch or fuse on the unit. Nothing in the manual helps. Is there something else to try or is it toast?

Bad relay? Usually from standby some amps "click" on.
Internal fuse?

You might check for a memory battery, I used to have a JVC receiver that had one.

OK. I was hoping to avoid cracking the case. Maybe I'll just wait for the next Free Monday.

Just crack the case take a look around, take a picture and post it. Just for kicks.

Turns out that opening it up-it looked more complicated than I thought-there is a circuit board that the AC is connected to at the power supply and lo! and behold! there are fuses. The 2A/250V fuse in the pic identified by the yellow arrow is blown!

I have a compact JVC system that is the primary living room stereo still purchased late 93 or early 94. I dread the day it stops working. It's got dual cassettes that can be controlled via remote (this was a feature I INSISTED upon getting back in the day and have used only a handful of times.)

I found a sticker. My unit was manufactured in 1998... I hope the fuse is the only problem!
gabe-I wonder if we have the same unit. Two cassette players that the remote can control. An MX-D302T.

Seems simple enough right.

Hope thats the only problem, it the fuse did its job, it just might be.

Of course, when I look in the manual, it says nothing about fuses inside the unit so you have to take it for service to get a fuse replaced. It says there are no user serviceable parts inside 8-)
I would really like to know how many people have had their unit serviced and a fuse was replaced but were charged God-knows-what for that.
