Tired of the update reminders from Adobe. I expect somebody has dumped it in favor of Preview. How is life w/o Reader?
Anybody dumped Adobe Reader?

I have it installed, but 99.9% of the time I just use Preview. I keep it installed in case I need it for fillable forms or other "advanced" PDF stuff.

Personally, I have moved on from Reader and just use Preview for all my PDF needs. It's fast, and works for just about everything I can throw at it.
At work, however, there are occasions where somebody will send in a content-controlled PDF file that needs some type of plug-in for Reader. I'm talking sensitive or proprietary machinery drawings/specs. Then we have no choice but to use Reader, and all of it's mess. So, I'm using both. Blech... Jeff

Preview is a neutered PDF reader. When you start getting into pro-level PDF and you need accurate renderings of how a document looks - Acrobat is the only option. Preview butchers different types of PDF - useless for proofing.

I only use it on Windows. The Linux and Mac versions are flaky at best. On Windows it is a necessary evil.

I changed to using Preview by default a few years ago, speed was one of the main factors. I also like Apple's PDF viewing in Safari, very fast, and there was a FireFox add-on that did exactly the same thing, but that broke after FF 3.x, so now I use the Schubert PDF viewer for FireFox, which doesn't have the same level of performance as what I was used to.
Preview has also been able to fill in forms that I've encounter. There was only one PDF that I used to run into regularly that required Reader to view, that was a college billing statement, but now the kids have graduated.

Only use reader when I absolutely have to, but there are some 'fill in' PDFs that require it, so you have to use it now and then. Otherwise, Preview is my default.

I use to use Adobe if I had a problem with Preview, but I haven't had a problem in at least 4 years. Not sure if I even have reader installed...

Haven't had Adobe Reader on my Macs for at least 5 years. Use Preview instead - much faster and does everything I need.

Adobe Reader... so worthless.
