Need to sell my MacBook Pro Quickly... MacSwap.org seems defunct any other suggestions besides CL ???
#1
I need to raise some quick cash so I'm selling my loaded, late 2008 MBP.

I was going to list it this morning on MacSwap but it appears to have gone the way of the dodo.... speaking of which I really don't want to mess with the rabble on LEMswap for this one.

I have not sold a computer on Craigslist before, always eBay (which I don't have the time for) so any advice on how to avoid problems and make a quick sale appreciated.

lemswap google group. Shouldn't be that bad, I sell on there all the time. Otherwise Craigslist is pretty good as well, but you will get less money.

you could post a question here asking where to sell it, then get some private offers from people.

wait...

Ditto. I've been on the Low End Mac Swap List for many years, it has always been a great place to buy & sell Mac-related stuff.

CraigsList rocks. I sell a lot of stuff there, and it goes within an hour.

I haven't used eBay in over 4 years now, and I used to sell a ton on there.

We've sold a couple of "come & pick it up" type items on craigslist -- outdoor stuff; a canopy and I think a lawnmower -- but I just can't seem to get into it for basic stuff (e.g., hubs, toys, etc.) or major computer stuff. There's a general air of "I don't trust this".

I do wish sometimes we had a classifieds type board here. I respect that the board owners don't want this to degrade into a selling spot, though I'd love to see a centric selling site (a la GameGavel).

On an expensive item, I meet the other party in the lobby of a police station. A bank would probably also work well. Advantage of a bank would be that the currency you receive could be quickly checked to see if they're counterfeit.

If you're in a decent sized city, craigslist should be fine. I have a tough time selling stuff in my "metro area" of 250K.

In addition to the other good advice already posted, I'll add ignore any email asking if the item is still available. They're probably just looking to collect an email address to add to a spam list.

Edit: I was just on CL for the first time in a long time. Have they fixed that by randomizing emails both ways?

We have malls that hold more people than that.
