OT: Just finished Star Trek Enterprise ep. Terra Prime. Don't watch the last episode?

That was a good series, too bad it did not go 7 seasons. I enjoyed that much more than I thought I would. In a previous thread, many people have suggested that the last episode is a huge let down. Without too many specifics, can anyone describe to me why I shouldn't watch it?

Even if it is a let down, watch it or you will just be curious anyway.

You tolerated the Temporal Cold War and the Xindi. You can deal with fat old Riker in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Just pretend the last episode is just a generic holodeck episode and it's not based on reality, just something Troi programmed to help Riker.

As for Terra Prime, it was a great episode and I wish that they would have spent a few more episodes here and there on the fact that there would have been a great deal of xenophobia after the Xindi attack.

It's a real shame what they did for the last episode... I wonder how much of that was because B&B knew that they were on their way out? So it was their way of saying "FU" before they left?

Without spoiling it for pRICE, there are some "revisionist" fanbase attempts at undoing that ending, which I agree is not a bad idea. One character in particular, not receiving a fair treatment, and that being undone. I also would have preferred that the movies addressed the time in between Enteprise and TOS, for example showing us the Romulan War.

I started randomly rewatching some of the episodes, and frankly they're actually really not bad. Especially stuff from the 4th season, but even some of the ones from the 2nd and 3rd. I actually enjoyed the Xindi/temporal war arc, and felt they wrapped it up wayyyyy too quickly.

All of it, really. They knew they had to wrap things up in that episode, and did their best with the resources available (including their limited creativity.) I doubt there was any sort of intentional flipping the bird at anyone.

I liked Enterprise almost as much as my favorite Trek series, DS9. That said, I agree the last ep was a letdown. But you gotta watch it. Still scratching my head over why the show was canned. Anyone in the know?

I'm not in the know, but I get the distinct impression that they wanted old blood (read: B&B) out, and new blood (read: JJ and company) in. That meant not continuing with the current canon and having the show go on for three more seasons. A shame, because Manny Coto and others were really helping it go in the right direction in the fourth season.

According to one site I read, several factors included not being syndicated and digital tracking of the viewership was not adequate to count all the eyeballs watching it. I didn't watch it but it was a pretty busy time in my life. Glad I was able to catch it via my amazon prime membership I got mainly for the shipping privileges. It was only after I purchased prime that people on this forum told me about the video streaming.

The usual reason a show is canned-- bad ratings. They tried random things to save it for about the last three years to no avail.
