Hi everyone,
Just got an email about this from Expercom. $1000 off a 8 core Mac Pro. Not sure how good or bad of a deal it is but it made me raise an eyebrow. If I remember correctly, it's a previous generation model, something mentioned in the link.

It's still a grand too much...
Not saying it isn't worth the asking price, just that I'm broke right now

Maybe not a grand too much, but about half that.

Agreed. I'd pay about $1500-$1600 for it.

Agreed with everyone here. But for some reason the going rate on fleabay for a USED one is $2000. So that would make the OP's deal a bargain relative to current market price?

methinks the "going rate" is for the premium given to extra RAM slots in the 8/12 core models...
personally, I'd rather have a single prior generation 6 core 3.33GHz than the dual four, eight core unit on sale... heck the current gen 6 core 3.33 w/ the same $1000 off would be $100 less than the sale rig.
or we can wait for what Tim promised us this year.

If I were in the market now, I'd be thrilled with that price. I paid more than that for my quad core 3.2 refurb in January 2011.
The refurb 8-core is $2649 in the Apple Store.
Note that it can run Snow Leopard, which is a big plus for some of us.

This is about the same price as a 27" iMac. If I had the money, I just might bite.

No! You shall wait for the new model if you held out this long.
I have to wait, I don't have any money.
