[poll] how many pairs of speakers makes one a Speaker W-ore?
#1
I think I'm approaching it, with probably 6 pair of speakers at this point.

Granted, I really only have one set on a system at a time, but I like them for different listening experiences. And, generally, my work system is counted toward this total and I hardly ever turn it on. Craigslist and the local thrift store (not to mention trash picks) are not helping this hapless addiction. FWIW, I have paid no more than 15% of what these speakers sold for originally. The ROI on speakers is downright scary.

Do you have more than three 5.1 systems in your home? I have parts for two, plus three regular speaker pairs. I almost bought a friends pair of 1995 era Infinity speakers for $40 because I could re-foam them and sell for about 4 times that.

It's only a problem when the DEA comes knocking because the electricity your amps consume looks like a suspected Grow operation. :emoticon-animal-022:

I think that makes you more of a speaker polygamist. If you buy and sell several sets per year, that makes you a little promiscuous maybe. My ears can't handle much any more (tinnitus, etc.), so I found a set that's really smooth, and stick with that. Plus, I think I use the cans more than anything now days. kj.

I have:

one 7.1 system
one 5.1 system
2.1 (Soundsticks) for the iMac
2.0 for the screened porch
2.0 for the deck
two Audyssey airplay speakers
one Klipsch airplay speaker
one iHome airplay speaker
two JBL airplay docks
one Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere dock
one Alteck-lansing dock
Various headphones & earbuds both wired & BT.

Edit: And a few other pairs not hooked up to anything.

to clarify: all the 6 pair or so are only 2.0.

It's not the number of pairs - it's the price:

I wonder how my 96k mp3s would sound on those $7M solid gold speakers?
