Mono LASER: Brother (see the one on sale today Robert M's thread)
Color Inkjet: again one of those Brothers (J430, J625, J825, J835). I think I got the numbers right.

Deco,
You don't want an inkjet, regardless of brand. If drying out due to sporadic use is a concern, you need to look at a laser printer. Robert

Brothers ink won't "dry out" unless you power off the unit.
The printer will switch to standby mode (sleep) when not in use but will "wake up" and do its self-maintenance routines. It then goes back into standby. The ink is so cheap it's less than a daily :coffee: STF for Brother MFC and you'll find links to Amazon for the inks. fwiw, I've been using the MFC-825DW for 8 months. It's the best AIO/inkjet I've owned and I've had Canons, Epsons, H-P, and even a Lexmark (hey, it was free!).

Works great. As good or better than my Epson did and it's an easier setup. It'll even copy an existing DVD's artwork and duplicate it without using a computer. And, the tray stores inside the scanner cover to boot! Sample DVD print (100x100 res): ![]()

FYI---The MFC-J825DW is being replaced by the J870DW which has chips in the ink cartridges--not good for us cheap inkers.
The J430W is not on clearance yet, but it seems that it will be replaced by the J470W with chipped cartridges also.

One of the best deals lately for a great printer is Tiger Direct selling the Lexmark x264dwn for $149.99!
Duplex, wired/wireless, fax/copy, workhorse. Earlier this week I purchased two more (for business) and a friend just ordered one today for her home office. I have several of these in place and they are great business-quality machines (includes built-in fax) and not the cheaper/scratch-prone all-in-ones you see in the store. When they just had the non-wireless models they were pretty expensive, so the price and the wireless built-in are the icing. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...No=7852179&CatId=2713

MrNoBody wrote: Wait, can the Brother Printers do Printable CDs and DVDs or just the label sheets. I have a bunch of Printable CDs that I planned to used with my old Epson R-220 but I could never get it to work. Any links or info on what to do or how to get my Brother MFC-430w to print on printable CDs? Seems like it wouldn't load to print? |
