There was a brief time when American cinema was going for a more European sensibility in certain areas, until it all came to an abrupt end. I hate Meeses to pieces!

For those interested in the sweet Miss Cates' willingness to not be overly modest, "Paradise" is just a few clicks away.

As mentioned in the article, Jennifer Jason Leigh is her friend, and she also appeared in relaxed dress in "Fast Time...". (The scene was often edited out, although she was 20 at the time.) Note that although "Fast Times..." is now regarded as a comedy, it didn't start out that way. The same thing happened to "Dr. Strangelove".

And then there was Jodie Foster in...

I should stop right here, because this is getting into _very_ old Internet lore. On rec.art.movies, various suggestion were made about certain actresses performances, and it evolved into the ongoing "THE LIST". Col Needham combined "THE LIST" with other lists, made up a database, and created the Internet Movie Database. IMDB.

As I recall, Miss Cates was the very first entry on "THE LIST".
