Page Plus Cellular question

In a recent thread Page Plus Cellular was recommended as a way to activate an old iPhone. I did this and have been very pleased except for today. My money disappeared in my account due to data usage but I have cellular data turned off. How is that possible?

If you have Notifications active that will count against data usage.

PPC user X 2 years, never had a problem with data being sucked up without my knowledge (I used to keep data turned off but haven't for at least 8 months.)
But no iPhone here.

Do you have data turned off on the phone, or from Page Plus?
If data is turned off on the iPhone, there should be absolutely no way that you could use up data.

I have Cellular Data turned off on the cell phone.
Also, has anyone had trouble with the verification codes on PPC? I bought a refill for the phone but I can't seem to get the verification code right. The one with all the unreadable text that I'm supposed to type in.

I wonder if it's possible Dave is misinterpreting text charges as data charges. Would be helpful to know which plan we're talking about here.

When I look at the call record page I see a lot of charges associated with a called phone number but far more that simply say "SMS/Mobile Web" with no associated phone number. The charge for each instance is way too high to be a text.
I am pasting in part of the bill so you can see what I am seeing. I reverified that cellular data is turned off. I also contacted PPC and they agreed to reverse the charges but no explanation for how it could have happened. I don't know how to determine if PPC is at fault or if the phone is indeed using cellular data when I've told it not to. Number Usage Time Date Pre Balance Cost Post Balance Description |
