good inflatible mattress?
#1
I've always bought the cheepo $20 inflatible mattresses but I'd like to get a nicer one this time. I've seen some queen size ones that inflate themselves. Any other features I should look for? Any model in particular that you like?

Thanks,

Dave

If you're ready to spend, Aero beds are great. I haven't owned one, so I can't comment on longevity, durability, etc..., but I can tell a difference sleeping on them compared to any other inflatable beds.

I had Eddie Bauer queen size mattress with built-in pump and would not recommend one. When camping, I had to wake up in the middle of the night and pump it up as it was loosing air. Totally anoying.

Then I got $40 mattress at Target and couldn't been hapier. It does not have built-in pump so I bought an electic one. I guess problem with the old mattress was that the built-in pump was removeable and it wasn't sealed well enough.

I have an twin-size Aero bed, not sure of the model number. It was about $60, and I'm happy with it. Self-inflating, and rolls up to store in a bag attached to the bottom end - very handy. I slept on it nightly for a few months and was pleased with the results. I added air every week or so, and the mattress stayed firm. I think I bought it at (gulp) Bed Bath and Beyond.

I've used several, and except for the cat claws thing, they were all pretty good.

If you have them for guests - remember to have something like a quilt to insulate the person from the heat loss through the floor - especially if it is on a slab.

Smartbargains.com has queen aerobeds for $99. They often put them on sale for $79 if you can wait. twins and full size are less.

i've had two cheaper makes and the aerobed seems better made and has a nice pump.

We have one of those double decker Aerobeds. I think its a twin size, but its twice as tall as normal so its more like sleeping on a real bed. Its quite comfy. It has a plug in pump that will inflate with the wife and I on it.
