...OK....so far no answers...it is a Penis Gourd. Worn by attaching another string to to string handle which is attached to the head and makes the Penis Gourd move as the celebrant dances and moves. Very Male oriented society in PNG.

I tried one of those on once- too loose. I then tried it on my nose- a perfect fit.
But the smell was revolting.

I was worried about the "fit"..you should change your name to Pinnochio! I don't believe you have THAT big a nose...you are just bragging!

The sad truth is- I don't have that big a nose... and neither did the previous owner.

There are just some things that are best bought bespoke, and shouldn't be bought used...

What kind of relationship do you and your SIL have? Is it a fun and joking sort of relationship?

Yes. Very out of the box. I'm going to put a hefty check in it, also.

Next year you can give him a couple of round gourds to go with it, and he'll be all set.

Samintex,

Did you get into the interior of PNG - specifically Balim Valley aka Shangra?

Hard to imagine that the 50,000 natives in that valley had never seen any outsiders before 1938 and were still living a tribal lifestyle of 500 years ago. Depending on your outlook, they either adapted quickly or were destroyed quickly.
