In praise of Raymond Cruz as Tuco-Breaking Bad

The guy is just amazing.

I've always loved his work but this character in BB is nothing but mesmerizing. Im watching, filling in holes on Netflx and I can't stop watching his scenes..rewind and just jaw dropping brilliant..

Me and my grown boys and even my Wife can't get enough of the guy. "Tight..Tight TIght Tiiight"

The show is filled with great, brilliantly developed characters-across the board..but Tuco is so complete and meaty..funny, scary, moments of tenderness..you can watch his switches flip and it's so great to watch an actor deep in the skin of a character. I can understand why Cruz found this role to be to hard to play-requesting to be killed off..there's a gutty physicality and a veering emotional range to every aspect of this performance and to pull this off with the comedic elements, seamlessly, must have demanded a huge amount of focus and determination and energy. Amazing dude at the peak of his craft.

Agreed. He was amazing as that character. Now every time I see him in other roles like in The Closer, I can't help but think of Tuco.

I saw Cruz in a production at the Mark Taper Forum many years ago. He gave a very intense performance.

I saw Cruz as Tuco long before I saw him for the first time in The Closer. I agree: he's great. I still see him preparing those burritos in my mind.

For any who have not see it, Training Day is a hell of a rush. Great film.

I love the look on Walt's face just before the vid cuts. I can't even imagine what's going through the other actor's heads as they watch this dude doing this Tuco thing..must have been some seriously heavy laughs and dismayed looks going on during these shoots.
