Mavericks fixed an annoying Finder bug from 10.8
#1
I know a lot of fellow MRF'ers had this issue in 10.8. You'd drop a file on the desktop and it would be sent anywhere but where you placed it.

No amount of fiddling with preferences changed this behavior.

Today, I dragged a photo from iPhoto to desktop and I was floored. It stayed exactly where I dropped it.

The bug in 10.8's Finder was annoying as if you had a few files on your desktop, it often placed the one you moved among them, on top of them, under them, anyplace, but where you wanted.

It took a year, but Apple did fix this.

That "bug" dates back to 10.6 for me...
Never did find a "fix"... it (fortunately) went away on its own at some point.

I don't have that problem on my Mac but that drives me nuts when using Windows at work!

Noticed that too. Nice fix. Here's another, though only an annoyance: I used to like having my mounted drives at the top of the side panel. Now, like pre-Lion, I can put them anywhere—same with other groups.

I never experienced that problem on any of the five Macs I had during that time period.

My experience with 10.7 was that a dragged/dropped or created file (New folder) some sometimes stay where I put it or end up lined up on the right.

No, I don't use snap to grid, if that's even still an option.

I will say that I use "Sort by..." on all my Macs. Maybe that's the difference.
