Very, very cool! I'd like to hear more about how you came to be in Japan, Drew...
I was there in 1986 for two weeks. I was fascinated... Didn't have much time to wander around on my own but I had a few fun experiences. I liked the vending machines selling alcohol right on the street. I can only imagine trying to do that in the US!

Was in Okinawa and Tokyo for about a week and a half a couple of years ago. I'd love to go back. One memorable experience was going to a small roadside restaurant on Okinawa where they didn't speak any English and we only knew how to say "Arigato". But we managed to have a great lunch. The people there were very friendly and helpful.

I've been here for 22 years now. My son was 1 month old when we arrived, so is much more at home here than the US. We live in the Kansai area, between Osaka and Kobe.

You were in the big earthquake in '95, I take it. Did you come through it OK?

Our house was on a hill, quite solid underneath, so wasn't damaged, though everything fell down. Even the refrigerator, which for some reason fell face forward with the door open. Quite the mess. Two other families had to move into our house because their's were damaged. One of those wives was overdue and had a baby two days later. No gas (which means heat and cooking), no water for weeks. I could go on and on.

Thanks Drew. Wide variety of interesting subjects. I understand keeping vintage cars licensed is a challenge.
