Why do internet trolls continuously post blind links to nutcase blog sites
#1
Really, what's the point? It's obvious to anybody with an ounce of intelligence that such links are utter nonsense. Have the trolls deluded themselves into thinking that they are somehow fighting the good fight by cluttering up discussion sessions with nonsense? Do they think that if they up the volume of nonsense they will somehow derail reasonable arguments? Do they think in a logical fashion at all? I don't think I've ever met anyone in real life that would fit the profile of a troll. Who the heck are these people? Does anybody get it?

Why? because it generates the responses that he LOVES! Stop responding!

He's not here to prove a point. He's not here to discuss his views. He's here only to annoy! And he's really good at it. IGNORE!!

Generally I don't respond. However, sometimes a good thread unrelated to the OP accidentally is produced so I do respond to those. Ofttimes a completely idiotic original post can give rise to some enlightened discussion stemming not from the original post but from some factual information that is posted in response. I'm reasonably certain that a lively fact-based discussion hijack of such a troll thread is highly annoying to the troll.

Your answer still puzzles me. "He's here only to annoy!" doesn't really explain the psyche of someone like that or the reasoning that is present within their brain that allows them to believe that annoying people is acceptable behavior or even desirable behavior. The only thing I can think of is that such people are consumed with hatred of those smarter than them. I really come up blank looking for other reasons, which is why I started this thread...to perhaps gain insight as to what makes such extreme individuals tick.

Davester... you're thinking too hard on the subject.

A troll loves watching his enemies squirm. I imagine a guy sitting back with a beer in hand saying to himself, 'Ok... how high can I make them jump today!'

Why are you thinking 'acceptable behavior'? What's that got to do with troll behavior? You lack imagination in this area... It's about having fun - nothing more. This is an amusement for him or should I say a bemusement since they are now the same word it seems...

That's what I don't get. I can imagine that making people squirm by showing them to be wrong could be pleasurable, but how can there be pleasure in demonstrating to people that you're a know-nothing? How can even the beer drinker derive satisfaction from proving to people that he is lacking the intelligence to construct a reasonable argument?

When confronted with a poster who displays all the characteristics of a simple minded right wing authoritarian, reasoned discourse is tantamount to impossible.

I am mindful of this excellent advice.

“Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.”

Nothing you can say matters in the least. Everything you say is based on fallacy. You're completely wrong. You're just flapping your tongue. You aren't proving anything. And he loves it... the redder your face gets, the better. There is no QED - period.

If you guys are referring to "Charlie M," can I assume you know who is behind that and are just pretending it's a real person for entertainment value?
