OK, I know we all want to jump down Charlie's throat, but can we stick with the topic and not come off as childish by posting pictures? People here get bent out of shape when the right-wingers do that kind of thing, but are OK when the lefties do that? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

Back to topic... can Beck's facts be verified? I had read that it took 6 minutes before it was determined that the shooter was dead, not 80 seconds. Also, I had read that no law officer was anywhere close to the shooter, thereby the shooter would not have known that a gun-wielding authority was close.

Given the fact that the kid was anti-authoritarian based on his Facebook postings and what witnesses said, would it not have been more likely that if the kid knew an authority figure with a gun was approaching him, he would have opened fire, trying to kill said authority figure instead of then and there committing suicide?

those are all good questions. The school's security guard who responded was unarmed. The sheriff's deputy happened to be there too but as I understand is not full time at the school.

I still come around to : why did he have a gun to begin with? Yes he had other "weapons" but the only one that hurt anyone was the shotgun.

he bought the gun legally by himself just a few days before the shooting. Colorado law allows 18 year olds to buy shotguns but not handguns. He had just recently been disciplined for threatening a teacher, and the school says it notified law enforcement, but it's not clear what happened after that. One thing that clearly did not happen is that put out any kind of notice to gun shops not to sell this kid a gun.
And that one simple thing could have prevented all of this violence.

Nope, he would have just bought at his local gun show or on the private market.

I'm all for gun control - banning all hand guns and multi-shot weapons. But not shotguns.
