Europeans propose probing Uranus
#1
European astronomers are arguing for an ambitious twin-probe mission to Neptune and Uranus with a launch date of 2034.

It may be 20 years in the future but I hope they are successful.

Yes, but first the Klingons circling Uranus will need to be removed.

I'm going to pass up the cheap jokes... too easy...

With a flight date of 2034, they'd be looking at an arrival between 2044 and 2050 - Uranus and Nepture are a LONG trip!

I'd say, step up the planning and building, and get them on their way sooner. But that's just me.

Actual source paper here (pdf). This is a 'case proposal', not a project plan.

Also technically 'astrophysicists' , cosmologists, and planetary scientists, not 'astronomers'. But most folk don't know the difference.

Wonder how much delta-V a Falcon Heavy would provide for an interplanetary probe. Yes, it'd also depend on the top stage booster, but still...
