Subject says it all. I bought an Office 365 subscription (through
amazon.com for about $67), so I could use the new iPad apps. They keep bugging me to install the downloaded version via the new subscription, but I can't imagine there's any difference between the versions, is there?

Probably not, but let's compare. My Word 2011 is part of an Office 365 download, it reports version 14.4.1 (140326)...what does yours say?

Exactly the same here...
Thanks!

That's not so much a loophole as using someone else's Office 365 subscription. Kind of like signing into Netflix with someone else's Netflix account.

I love the subscription models software developers are forcing on us. They certainly know what is.best for me.

I agree with John B., the headline "Eliminates Need For Office 365 Subscription" is totally misleading! You still need access to
someone's subscription credentials, they're just not enforcing the 5 device limit. Yet.
And yes Speedy, the move to subscription-based licensing is pretty annoying. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves. At least Apple is bucking the trend and giving everything away! Now if they could just bring back all the features they've eliminated...

It seems to me that you are replacing a piece of software that will work for you indefinitely with one that has the exact same feature set that it stops working after one year.
