three-prong plug snapped, can I use two-prong plug with 2012 MBP?
#1
Hi,

I busted one of the prongs off the three-prong plug for the adapter that goes with my 2012 Macbook Pro.

A friend gave me a two-prong plug/cord that fits the adapter fine.

Is there any problem using the old plug (two-prong) with this adapter and computer?

Thanks.

Short answer: No problem.

Apple's adapters (at least the one for my new MPBr 15) ship with both a compact 2-prong fitting and a corded 3-prong fitting designed to be swappable.

Some combinations won't swap. I think it's just a UL thing. since the brick has only two, it's OK from an electrical/safety standpoint.

Thanks, guys. Plugged it in, and the MBP is charging.

Appreciate the help.
