Any good non-Apple (aka non-$19) 30 pin iPad/iPod/iPhone Chargers?
#1
Hi,

I need a couple replacement USB to 30 pin charging cables (just the cable, not the plug-in "brick") for our household's 2 iPad 2 devices, our iPhone 3GS, and our iPod 4th gen.

I bought a couple cheap-o ones at "Five Below" for $5.00 each, but they both fell apart within a month, I'd say, at the point where the cable enters the 30 pin connector.

I would rather not spend the $19.00 plus tax that Apple charges for theirs, but I also don't want to throw any more money away on charges that won't last a couple years or so.

Does anyone have good long-term experience with cheaper charging cables? If so, I'd appreciate a recommendation.

Thanks!

And by the way, I *did* read this post from our forum:

If I have to pay $19, I will, but unfortunately, money truly *is* tight at the moment, and I'd love to shave even $9 off the price, if I can.

OWC usually has some good deals on Apple cables.

Here is one for about $10. You might search the site for others

$8 at amazon

You could also look at a search. This is anything 4 stars and up that is prime elligible:

I purchased a bunch of flat cable 30 pin cables on Amazon for like $10. They all worked great. However, as with all Cheap Chinese Crud, YMMV. I got lucky.. the poor schlub making them that day must have been happy and attentive.

I have a bunch of these:

These are really fun. The LED light actually lights up red while charging, then turns blue when done charging.

+1 Amazon basics--their own brand (great if you have prime--about $8 delivered)

+1 owc under $12--depends on length

cables seem to disappear like socks around the house. owc seems to run sales or a focus in email ads on either their cables (newer tech) or apple cables that are about half price of apple cables/chargers. I buy a handful. No complaints--Thanks for a good product owc Larry.

You can try Goodwill and SA. This time of year lots of this kind of stuff turns up. A couple weeks ago I found an Apple charger for $1.00.
