Samsung smart phones, I'm so confused.

Note 2 & 3, S3,4, & 5? I wanted to try Android but it's not easy. Then there's HTC, and maybe LG...
I may just wait until the IP 6 comes out.

Hopefully IP 6 will be the bomb. I'm thinking it will be. The Samsung line is way simpler than you think it is. You're comparing years old phones to new phones and that 3 is higher than 2 and 4 is lower than 5.

Yeah, I went to the Samsung site and they listed them all, I guess the note series are older. I would like to find an unsubsidized Android to try it out, then I could sell it if I don't like it.

So newest to oldest:

- S5 (spring '14)
- Note 3 (fall '13)
- S4
- Note 2
- S3

... and so on.

If you're looking to jump in with a used phone, I think the S3 is great.

I like my S4 quite a bit. I don't find the naming confusing at all. I actually find it less confusing than Apple's. They just say "iPad" anymore but don't say which version it is. Then you've got the iPad Air too.

Samsung has the S line of phones - S1, S2, S3, S4, S5... they come out with a new version just about every year. The S5 just came out. The S4 came out last spring.

Apple does it differently. You had the iPhone 3, Then 3G, then 3Gs... or was it iPhone 3 then 3GS...? There's the iPhone 4, 4s, 5... are we on the 5s now?

I am waiting for the iPhone SE/30. It will be the first one with a micro SD slot, micro USB 3, and user upgradeable RAM up to 128 GB.

It's not quite that clean when you factor in the Mini models; the S4 Mini has much more in common with the "full" S3 than the S4. There were also multiple versions of the S2 (with differently-shaped "home" buttons!) depending on carrier, and there are also multiple versions of the S4 (the T version is the only one that has the hardware required for Sprint Spark, as one example).
