MacBook Pro Mavericks won't connect to internet
#1
My new laptop shows that it is connected to the Internet but when I try to go online or get my mail it says that is not connected. My iPad will see the network and work just fine my iPhone will see the network and work.

I've turned the computer off and on, I've reset the modem, I've reset the airport, I've done everything I can think of. When I google it everyone just complains of the problem but I couldn't find a fix.

PLEASE HELP!

And thank goodness I have an iPad!

I found this

https://discussions.apple.com/message/23478218#23478218#23478218

1. Boot into Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while the computer boots up)

2. Go into System Preferences --> Network and click on the bottom button "Assist Me"

3. Create a new location. Choose your Wifi network and password.

4. Reboot

Apple. They don't care about OS X anymore.

Do you have a second (or third) browser installed? Always a good idea to have options.

do you think this was borrower related? from the discussions at Apple t appears to be network related. In that case a second browser will not do you any good. in fact even Kate said "when I try to go online or get my mail it says that is not connected." so it's not only Safari, but also Mail. Most likely a network issue in latest mavericks.

Its working since I added a new location, but I sure don't know why it does it! And I did try other browsers, didn't work, but the iPad and iPhone connected just fine.
