What car is Captain Obvious driving?
#1
In the latest Hotels.com advert, Captain Obvious gets into an old 2door car. Anybody recognize the make and model?

I was going for old Facel Vega, but it then occurred to me that this was a custom car:

Barracuda, done up by somebody with a fondness for old Studebakers?

Studebaker looking to me.

The replies to the video are more informed than I am. The shot of the roof before he gets in shows a joint in the chrome trim about 10" back from the windshield. Finding either a Barracuda or a Studebaker with a similar detail would go a long way in proving which it was.

The 'cudas had a lot bigger back glass. See below. I remember my uncle had a white one, back in the 60's. Some people would install a big hemi in the back which gave them the nickname 'Hemi under glass.'

Now, I didn't check every year, but I don't think it is a Barracuda.

Closer inspection, I bet a bit of photoshopping. 63 Barracuda, perhaps with some Studebaker thrown in

1953 Studebaker Commander --- Beautiful car, I'd take it over the Thunderbird or Corvette of the day.

or a 53 Studebaker Starliner Coupe

Hard to tell them apart

or a jensen interceptor convertible that someone has made a hardtop for and the image is reversed

does look like an early valiant/barracuda notchback

Vent windows are wrong; in the commercial, they are triangular, and hinged on the outside.
There is a whole lot of Boano influence at work here...

My first reflex was barracuda also. I don't think it's a "real" car, but it's not like I've seen every car made, I guess. kj.
