...Groundhogs!! They're everywhere this year and are taking over my 112 year old barn! :argh:
While we've had them around my commercial property for years, they are becoming a nuisance. Today, I was in the old block barn loading up a 2 gallon sprayer with insecticide to spray the pole barn, (more pests, spiders out of control) I heard a noise as I was sitting quietly waiting for the insecticide packets to dissolve. After a minute or so out walks three baby 'hogs nosing around just by my feet. They're cute little chits, but very destructive. They have GOT to go.
I'm open to suggestions. Get a live trap and release a few miles away in the wilderness? Go postal and whack every 'hog that comes within range, poison the varmints, or what? (your suggestion here). Maybe there is some kind of repellent that would discourage them from hanging out inside the barn?
Thinking about the live trap deal, (not really into whacking the pests) but I think the DNR says no to releasing them on state land.
I have no problem with the 'hogs out back by the swamp who seem to live in the woodpile, but I want them out of the barn posthaste.
BTW, are groundhogs good in a stew?
