this is a ritual i contemplate daily. to mow or not to mow.
it's just grass. and yet i am compelled to keep it short.
disturbing in some ways. and at times rediculoulsy delightful.
so why do you mow your lawn. the asupiciouness has compelled me to ask this.

Because it looks so good when it's recently mowed.

A mowed lawn is an absolute horror to me... I'm allergic to grass and mowing sends zillions of little grass particles into the air that are easily inhaled and absorbed my lungs that get immediately irritated. I couldn't breath right for a month once due to a hard game of volleyball doubles on grass. I have several horror stories along these lines, but most people don't find them horrifying - only puzzling...
but I don't like grass or mowing and all things associated.
Luckily, grass lawns are going out of fashion and will probably be outlawed soon around here.

i enjoy yardwork as i can be assured there will be no children coming near me, for fear of being asked to do labor (the horror of it all).
earbuds in + mower / edger / blower = my time

"Contemplate daily"? No. I just finished mowing and won't think about it for five days. I do like my zero-turn mower (Deere Z425.)

I enjoy the mowing. I"m a visual person and I like the way it looks when I'm done. I like seeing homes that are well cared for by people who appreciate what they have. I dislike seeing yards that are neglected by people who don't seem to care.
I've been in my home for nearly a year now and am in the process of converting much of the lawn into low-maintenance areas with more native plants. It was only lawn and blackberry bushes at first. It may be 5+ years before It starts to look really good but it will always be getting better.

This.
Plus, a healthy, well cared for lawn absorbs more CO2 than all the trees around it. Lots of oxygen around my house!
