When we were all growing up, my friends all wanted Mercedes', Lexus', or BMWs, Jaguars, Porsches, etc., etc. Not me! I've always wanted a Wrangler. I am at a point in my life where it's time to treat myself. My lease was up on my Town & Country and I've been thinking that things have changed with my work to the point that a minivan isn't the necessity it used to be. My wife has an Explorer and she is more than happy to switch cars now if I need more room for work gear! We've decided that if we need yet more space we can rent a van.
We've always bought American cars anyway-although I am also a capitalist and capitalism is about choice; buy what you want... We support our legacy here in Motown.
But it's the Wrangler I've wanted so here she is! Firecracker Red! In a sop to my wife, tho, I got an auto trans. I did order it as it's the end of the '14 model year and there were different things I wanted-the wheels, e.g. The Sahara's standard ones don't do much for me so I got the polished spoke wheels which are also 18", not 17. Another nice thing is I have the same motor as I had in the T&C. The 3.6 V6 which I think is one of the best engines Chrysler has ever produced. It also has the Alpine sound system, Trak-Lok rear axle, and, because my bony old butt needs them, heated seats.
Yeah, I know, I didn't ask for the tire shine but they do that when the vehicle is prepped for delivery. Now, time to get some mud on her!
