iPad Mini on sale at BestBuy
#1
For those of you who missed the Target $199 iPad mini several weeks ago,
Best Buy is offering the 16gb iPad mini for only $199 from Aug 31 thru Sept 6th
That's $100 off the $299 price
If it fits your needs, that's an incredible price for a brand new iPad mini.

It's no wonder BestBuy is losing money hand over fist, with deals like this.

There are a number of "$100.00 off" deals on ipads going on right now and have been.

How do we know Apple isn't crediting back (or forward as the case may be ) all or some of that $100 ?
Or just loosening the price control reigns.

Just to be clear -- this is the non retina mini.

This is the pricepoint at which the mini should have shipped.

I like our ipad mini, but I would hesitate to recommend it to anyone serious about using it as a laptop replacement. Its processor is long in the tooth at this time, and it's starting to show. Recent;y, we found an online card game that plays fine on my iPad Air, but is tediously slow on my wife's iPad Mini. Card game - not a high-end game.

It's still a nice product, but it's really a rev A. The second gen iPad mini with retina is better in every way.

And just to be clear, and since nobody is posting links, so I won't either, the local Best Buy ad requires a 2 Year Cellular contract for the $100 off, which makes a whole lot of sense for the low-end iPads, since they are WiFi only.

What the hell, here are the links:

There may be local differences, so when posting these kinds of deals, please provide a link.

Good point. iPad sales are down so maybe Apple and retailers are simply trying to clear out inventory?

The national sunday ad lists $199 for the WiFi model without any requirement for a 2-year cellular activation. You are looking at an entirely different promo.
I didn't post links because they are not available until Sunday 8/31, like I stated in my original post.

And yes, the original iPad mini is long on the tooth, but for $199 it makes a better tablet than the Samsung Tab 3 or 4 and a beautiful ebook reader for those who don't want to buy into the Amazon ecosystem.

Best Buy matched Target's $100 discount last June too.
I'm not sure if they advertised it or if it made s-deals but it was marked down in the store.
