You know, I'm having fun today. Even tho I'm doing yard work I've had the SX40 with me so I can be ready for a photo op. Well, a couple of years ago on Labor Day weekend I got some good pix of a female hummingbird and she-or, at least a hummer-has been hanging around our gardens every Summer since.
So I've been on the lookout to get more shots as this one is at our flowers quite a bit. I saw her at the blue salvia and she saw me and flew off. I put on my patience cap, got the 40 ready, and waited.
She came back! And, although the last time I got pix I was using my 5D Mk. II, I've been wanting to see what the SX40 can do.
I had to shoot fast, and I set it on Manual, ISO 800, f5.6@1/1600th, and just fired away. I'm going to work on them a bit as these are cropped a lot, too. But they're not too noisy considering they're at ISO 800 and cropped.
I still like my SX40!
