Quick advice, please--Which Macbook Pro 15" for $400 or less?

We need an MBP Pro for my wife-her old one died (GT8600 video chip died, as best I can tell). So I'm thinking one of the early unibody MBPs would be a good value, and tide us over until the Haswell MBPs come out next year.

Are there any models to avoid? Any that are best in family?
