It will always be 4 one inch filters
and likely one hell of a restriction

you can use a more restrictive filter media by increasing the square feet of surface area exposed ( large pleats accomplish this in a thicker filter )

In (simple non-exponential ) theory you could stack those 4 filters but you would have to make them 4 times the size.

I ordered some. Used the HD credit card that I opened for big savings when purchasing a garage door opener and lawn mower. Been planning on canceling that soon anyway.

are you basing that on swapping them every 120 days like clockwork, or when they need it, and what is healthiest for the family, and most fuel efficient for your furnace/heat pump?

We have 2 cats and I have to clean my furnace filter monthly. And I'm off to do that now, BTW.
