New Computer: MacBook Pro! YEAH!
#1
Just got a new MacBook Pro... love it so far!

Now I can take my Mac everywhere and enjoy that operating system for all my fun stuff and entertainment. Then when necessary, boot in PC when I have to do the Real Estate biz.

Deciding whether to put Home Edition or Pro on the PC partition. I read a tidbit that XP Home Edition is designed to run on one processor, not a dual processor. Will there be noticeable speed difference running Pro on the duo core Intel of the MacBook Pro? Just curious....

if you are only running 1 app on the windows side -- why not use parallels instead?

and does that app take advantage of the dual processors?

The application is Internet Explorer, used for accessing the Multiple Listing Service on the internet. Also, Winforms for Real Estate forms. I don't know if they are dual processor capable. This is new concept for me...

Thank God I can take my Mac with me on business trips again. Use the PC only when I absolutely have to! Smile

I want to break my Dull craptop at work, and try and cajole them into getting me a MacBook pro. I only have one app I MUST use that is Windows. The rest are up to me.

Parallels Desktop only runs on a single core. Don't see how that would be a big deal for IE or WinForms.

I recently set up Parallels (with Win2K) running on a Mac mini Core Duo with 1.5GB of RAM -- no complaints about the speed of either Parallels or Mac OS X. The MacBook Pro will be even faster, so long as you have sufficient RAM in there. So much more convenient than BootCamp for those that don't need every last drop of performance out of their Windows setup.
