Tallahassee has the same Comcast package for $40/month, for $50/month you get 50Mbps.
Knowing Comcast that will translate to 14.4K for $89.95

This is the cord cutter's special, designed to attract those who want HBO but little else.
It was cheaper when introduced, and the price was only good for a year.
HBO on its own is $20/mo, even for basic cable subscribers.
An sister-channel HBO/Cinemax or Showtime/TMC bundle is also $20, so there's no reason to opt for the single.

space, some of what they're offering you is in exchange for locking you into hardware (WiFi router) and more proprietary cable boxes.
There's really no way to "sort of" get TV from them, you either don't, or you're pulled to be all in, in such a way to remain there because of all the related functionality it does.
Yes it's only $5 more but in the end, after awhile you'll probably be looking at something like $100/month vs. ~ $55 just for IP. And maybe that's OK for you.

I read in that other article some cable companies are considering offering HBO Now to their IP-only customers. So if you don't have an AppleTV I suppose you'd log into a web browser?

All I know is I'm stuck with Komcast at one of me places, no other internet option. Don't get TV, but must have house phone, so have internet and phone bundle, $60 a month - for now! Knuckahaided Komcast, have to call them ever so often, threaten to leave, fight, fight some more, then they give me another "special." Knuckahaids I call'em.
