His name is Taichi, and his adorable little girl is in my partner's classroom. He has an awesome, but not pretentious high end sushi place here in Seattle.
No idea how he did, but I suspect he either won, or came damn close.

I assume that Beat Bobby Flat is a reality show where people are invited to beat the shit out of poor Bobby. I find your friend deplorable...

The little bit of that show that I saw years ago before we dumped cable seemed at least somewhat staged. I remember Bobby losing to his opponent making jambalaya. Say what you want about Bobby Flay, but he wouldn't be where he is if he didn't at least know that you don't keep lifting the lid to check things out when you're cooking rice. It seemed like they had decided to "let" the other guy win, because Bobby was obviously throwing the match.
