4-bay, rack mounted 1U, Thunderbolt 2, SSD dock - interesting

just saw this on xlr8yourmac.com. Looks like a cool device for anyone that needs easy access to 4 bays of SSD speed over thunderbolt:

Shoot, this might be a decent solution for us regular folks who want a thunderbolt enclosure of sorts for multiple drives.

It can be use as JOBD or RAID.

Cool.

Given the pricing of SSDs of late, if you don't need a ton of storage, this is kind of slick.

It's obviously aimed at video editing.

I guess a Drobo-type setup would be more to my liking.

I would even take something like this with a USB 3 connection instead of TB. Halve the price, it would be great!

Maybe something like the SANS DIGITAL TR4UTBPN would work for you? I use one connected to a Mac Mini as a NAS. For SSD's, you'd need bay adapters.

Very cool.

Compared to video editing using hard drives, this is like adding up to 4TB of a RAM disk-like storage.

Just buy one of the PCIe SSD's. Oh wait...
