Rumor: A8-Based Apple TV Box With App Store and Siri at WWDC
#1

The new Apple TV will feature Apple's latest A8 system-on-a-chip and a "dramatic increase" in internal storage, well beyond the 8GB included in the current third-generation set-top box. The addition of Siri will enable Apple TV owners to control a wide selection of HomeKit-enabled home automation devices through the set-top box, according to the report.

If it doesn't have a DVR, I don't care. They can add all the features they want, but if it can't be one box that does all the basics, I don't want to have to deal with switching inputs, multiple remotes...

Apple clearly wants all of our media content to come from them via the cloud. There won't be a DVR feature and there won't be a tuner feature. The new streaming service might offer shows on demand though.

As long as they offer sports and other events - live and on demand without ads, then that would be okay. I'd do that then.

Without ads? Probably not. Sports on demand? Maybe.

M A V I C - I gave up on a 'DVR' as a keep component. If I get the data when I want to from the web, why should I bother to record it?

I kind of agree, but I enjoy recording OTA shows for later. There's enough content that I've considered dumping all my paid streaming services and then cutting back the Internet to the barest possible tier. Decent savings to be had.

I guess all these "new Apple TV" threads mean passing on the open box gen 3 for $65ish was a good idea. Always nice to have validation.

It can always come in handy. Here's your validation: $59.99 after rebate at Adormama.
