Pleasant surprise from Apple and iCloud
#1
I pay .99 a month for 20gb storage on iCloud. It seems that Apple has just increased the storage to 50gb a month for the same rate. Seems like a real bargain. Now if only Dropbox was this cheap for 50gb.

Yes, that was mentioned in the iPhone keynote. New pricing across the board; besides what you noticed, the 500GB level is gone, the 1TB now has the 500GB price of $9.95/month and the 200GB is now $2.99/month. I'm trying to decide if I want to go completely into Apple's silo and up mine to the 1TB level so that I can put all of my photos in the cloud.

Can all file types be organized in iCloud the same as was in DropBox?

Can you upload a boot image and boot off the cloud?

I still don't trust Apple for online storage after they have screwed over users.

If you have iTunes Gift cards or credit, you can use them for iCloud--so look for the 20-25% Off deals

There are ways (and some services) to get your free dropbox up to 40 GB if you do a little googling

Great tip.

I'm wondering how best to share a single iCloid paid subscription with my family. Sharing 50 GB would be great if we could do it properly. Maybe via the family plan?

I don't have many Apple devices left here, but my experience is no. Seems like apps are designed to work with iCloud and those apps can pull down compatible files. I'm not sure if there's a normal file browser view anywhere. Would love to be wrong.

I tried to figure out how to share via the family plan and couldn't. I don't think it is possible.

Silvarios...

I agree with you - I would like to just store data in iCloud, but not be tied to only the Apple Programs that save them there (if that is how it works). I need to drop by Apple Store to quiz the Genius's/Geeks there.

Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PDFs (open with Adobe), etc. I don't use Photos application either (not yet anyway). I would like to store all these types of files there and be able to access them in any way I need to.
