Which Air and Cabin Filter to Purchase?

Got my car serviced at local dealer where they suggested Cabin and Air filter to be replaced.

I will do it my self.

But Autozone vs the Clarks Discount Auto, is quite a difference, Should I be concerned with Clarks low price, or just change it more often?

Remove the cabin filter. Check it. Vacuum it off. Put it back in. Done.
Remove the air filter. Check it. If it's gunky, replace it. If not, don't.

Most places that recommend replacing the filter don't even look at it. They just go by manufacturer's recommendations. If you live where it's crazy dusty, that's a good idea. If you don't, it's a waste.

Just one person's experience at one store, but, I opened 3 STP air filter boxes at an Autozone, and all 3 filters had gaps between the molding and the filter media.

STP is some of the worst filters out there. Puralator is good and there are many others but I avoid STP.

It wasn't so long ago that we didn't have "cabin filters". I don't recall any dread diseases being eliminated due to the filters. As I recall Saab was the first company to market them as a way of reducing exposure to pollen as you were driving through different areas. What began as marketing hype has now become copied so that many folks now think of it as a necessity without even thinking about it. Bear in mind that walking around outside in the fresh air without a cabin filter is not particularly hazardous.

I've been using FRAM or TYC brands.

But Cbelt is correct - check first, most of the time they are fine unless you travel dirt roads a lot.

Last time I bought them from Amazon. They were a decent price and Prime shipping, and they usually have a good selection. Prior to that I used to get them from a place called logical-source (which is apparently gone). Rock Auto is another good option. As for brand, as mentioned TYC is usually good if you don't want to pay for oem.

A Denso, which is probably OE, is less than $10 at Rockauto, as is a Wix.

The charcoal versions aren't that much more.

Stick to a brand that makes filters, like WIx, Purolator, Mann, Mahle, or a big Tier 1 OEM like Denso, Bosch, etc.

...not a brand that markets additives and fluids.
