SSD to iMac?
#1
Considering putting an SSD in an iMac. Could install it in a 20-inch iMac 9,1 2.26 GHz with 8 GB RAM OR a 21.5-inch iMac 10,1 3.06 GHz with 12 GB RAM. Both have Intel Core 2 Duo processors.

They work well.

Screen dimension not particularly important…

Is one a distinctly better candidate to receive the SSD?

Well, the 21" is newer with better everything, so seems like a no brainer.

You will also need the temp sensor cable, unless software works.

Clyde,

I put a Crucial 500 SSD in a 2007 iMac C2D 2.8GHz with 6GB RAM. It flies. It is still very slow rendering home movies for burning, but a bit faster than it was because the SSD permits faster writing. That is where the SSD makes the biggest difference for heavy work.

Where you put the SSD depends on your use of each machine.
